INEZ, Ky. — A Martin County man is in jail, after being accused of forcibly raping a woman. The woman told police that a man she didn’t know had picked her up in Inez Tuesday morning and offered to give her a ride. After they drove around for a while, he stopped in the senior citizens center parking lot and asked her if she had heard about two women from a local drug treatment center who had been raped and killed, instantly putting the woman in fear for her life. Bond lowered in vehicular homicide case
PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — A judge has lowered the bond for a man charged with vehicular homicide in a DUI crash that killed two Prestonsburg teenagers last year, despite opposition from the victims’ families. Marcus Logan Auxier, 21, of Nippa, is charged with two counts of vehicular homicide, three counts of wanton endangerment, three counts of assault, DUI and failure to render aid. He is accused of being impaired last July when he crashed his vehicle with five other people in the car.Two of those passengers, 16-year-old Kendra Jade Moreno and 13-year-old MaKenna Reese Barnett, died of their injuries. Interim college presidents named for Big Sandy, Southeast Ky.
VERSAILLES, Ky. — Two Eastern Kentucky colleges have new temporary leaders, as the Kentucky Community and Technical College System appointed interim presidents to oversee them until permanent leaders are selected. Dr. Todd Brand has been chosen to serve as interim president of Big Sandy Community and Technical College, following the announcement last month of Dr. Scott Rule’s departure.
