WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — Police have made an arrest in a pair of shootings this week in Williamson. James Victor Hash Jr., 20, of Oceana, W.Va., was arrested Friday for attempted murder, destruction of property, prohibited person in possession of a firearm, and brandishing a firearm. Police believe him to be the person responsible for a drive-by shooting into a car on Tuesday, as well as a shooting into an apartment building the following night. TOMAHAWK, Ky. — A Martin County man has been arrested on a child abuse charge, after police say he hit his girlfriend’s daughter. A state trooper was called to Three Rivers Medical Center to speak to the girl. She told police that Kevin Michael Litton, 35, of Tomahawk, began arguing with her for taking one of his sodas, when he told her to come to him because he had a surprise for her. PIKEVILLE, Ky. — The former chief of a Pike County volunteer fire department is under federal indictment, accused of embezzling money intended for safety equipment. Christopher Chapman, 35, of Ransom, was arrested Friday morning after being charged with one count of federal program theft. Chapman served as chief of the Blackberry Volunteer Fire Department, when the indictment alleges he informed the department in April of 2022 that they could obtain safety equipment at cost from a company called Rural Public Safety Equipment LLC.
